Android Apk Software - Profil Susno Duadji - Indonesia tax fraud fugitive Gayus Halomoan Tambunan reportedly has been arrested by the National Police in a Hotel in Singapore on Tuesday night local time, police in Jakarta said.
Reports said the upper-middle tax official was caught without resisting at the 21st floor of Mandarin Hotel on Orchard Road at 10:15 pm (+7GMT) six days after he left Jakarta on March 24th.
An unnamed source with the Indonesian police said the First Deputy Director of Transnational Crime Directorate Senior Commissioner M. Irawan led the operation and coordinated with Singapore authorities and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to smooth out Gayus’ deportation back to Jakarta.
The national police reportedly prepared a large team fro the operation which some were deployed in Batam, Riau Island, about 25 kilometers north of Singapore to prepare several alternative routes for Gayus’ deportation.
The young tax official has become a hit in Indonesian press for the last two weeks after his name was brought up to the public by police as the prime suspect of a tax embezzlement case following internal rifts in the National Police Force.
A three star police general, ex-chief detective Susno Duadji pointed at lower rank officers whom he said have provide protection for tax evaders after his humiliating removal from the chief detective post, following his involvement in Bank Century bail out case.
The accusation prompted police to bring Gayus Tambunan’s name to the public as the only suspect in tax evasion case, after successfully covering up the case up to the conclusion part which saw Gayus cleared from three serious charges of money laundry, embezzlement and corruption.
Later Indonesian authorities let him fled to Singapore days after his name was published and after three times of questioning by the Presidential Task Force. More than Rp25 billion out of Rp28 billion involved in the case reportedly went to police officers.
